EU Unveils "European Quantum Strategy" to Lead Global Quantum Tech by 2030The European Commission officially released the "European Quantum Strategy" on July 2 local time. Highlighting Europe's strengths, the strategy aims to build a resilient and sovereign quantum ecosystem, positioning Europe as a global leader in quantum technologies by 2030.

The strategy focuses on five key areas: integrating research resources to strengthen the transformation from quantum science to industrialization; building scalable infrastructure to support design, manufacturing and application development; improving the ecosystem through investing in startups, securing supply chains and promoting technology implementation; developing space and dual-use technologies to integrate quantum capabilities into security and defense systems; and enhancing talent cultivation by promoting education, training and talent mobility to build a diverse world-class quantum talent pool.

So far, the EU and its member states have invested approximately 11 billion euros (about 93 billion yuan) in quantum technology development. However, issues such as fragmented strategies, duplicate resources and talent competition among member states remain prominent. The "European Quantum Strategy" clearly proposes to integrate European advantages, turning Europe into a "Quantum Valley" comparable to Silicon Valley, and leading global quantum technology innovation and industrial development.
